Number Two is found guilty of “biting the hand that feeds him.”

Number Six is led down many guarded corridors, going deeper and deeper underground. On the way he sees Number Forty-eight and Number Two in transparent capsules that read “Orbit 48” and “Orbit 2.” Number Six climbs a circular staircase, pushes a button, and is allowed to enter a room full of globes. At the end of this room sits a hooded figure, its back to Number Six. The figure stands, turns toward Number Six, and offers him a crystal ball. Number Six drops the ball, reaches for the mask, and pulls it off. Underneath is the mask of a chattering chimpanzee. Number Six pulls off this mask. Underneath is Number Six himself, looking evil and threatening. Number Six chases this image of himself out of the room and locks him out.
